Cunheira, located 36km from Avis, occupies an area of 4553 hectares where around 700 people have lived. It is the most recent parish in the municipality, having been created on February 20, 1976. Until that date it was part of the parish of Chancelaria. As for the toponym, it is thought that it could be related to the existence of conifers. It has an area of 37.08 km² and 389 inhabitants (2011). Its population density is 10.5 inhabitants/km².
