Na costa ocidental, o território é recortado pela Lagoa de Albufeira, muito procurada para a prática de windsurf e kitesurf. Um pouco mais a sul surge a praia do Moinho de Baixo, junto à Aldeia do Meco, caracterizada pelos seus extensos areais. Continuando ao longo da costa chega-se ao Rio da Prata, uma das primeiras praias naturistas do país, e logo a seguir aparece a praia das Bicas, local de eleição para os amantes do surf. Praia Ribeiro do Cavalo. O acesso a este paraíso pode ser feito de barco ou através de um caminho na serra, que para além de alguma preparação física, exige bom conhecimento do local. O esforço da caminhada é recompensado assim que se chega ao areal.

Seguindo a linha de costa entra-se na baía de Sesimbra, com o seu mar calmo, onde as actividades náuticas e de lazer convivem com as artes e tradições da pesca. Nos últimos anos, Ouro e Califórnia, assim como o Moinho de Baixo, no Meco, receberam a Bandeira Azul, galardão que distingue as melhores praias da Europa, tanto pela sua qualidade ambiental e condições de segurança, como pelos equipamentos de apoio e actividades de educação ambiental realizadas.

SESIMBRA:
O concelho de Sesimbra situa-se no sudoeste da Península de Setúbal, possui uma área de 194,98 quilómetros quadrados e integra a Área Metropolitana de Lisboa. É limitado a norte pelos municípios de Almada e Seixal, a nordeste pelo Barreiro, a leste por Setúbal e a sul oeste pelo Oceano Atlântico. Quanto à freguesia do Castelo, a maior das três em área, a sua formação data de 27 de maio de 1388. Apesar de ainda manter a ruralidade que a caracteriza, destaca-se ainda pela indústria extrativa, construção e turismo, este último mais associado à Aldeia do Meco.

O concelho de Sesimbra está situado na península de Setúbal e integra a Área Metropolitana de Lisboa. A partir de Lisboa, o principal acesso é pela A2, até ao nó do Fogueteiro, e de seguida pela EN 378. A partir de Setúbal o acesso faz-se pela EN 10 até Azeitão e pela EN 379.
