Salir do Porto é uma povoação do Município de Caldas da Rainha, na região Oeste de Portugal, que foi sede da extinta Freguesia de Salir do Porto,

SALIR DO PORTO TEM A MAIOR DUNA DE PORTUGAL, e dizem que já foi a maior da Europa!

A altura da duna é de 50 metros e é raro ver alguém que consegue chegar ao topo sem fazer, pelo menos, uma paragem e quase sempre com um ritmo pausado. Sem pressas. O outro desafio é descer sem ter a tentação de dar uma corrida.

Termina quase sempre com um mergulho na areia. Os mais astutos fazem a descida numa corrida diagonal. Com ou sem queda, a direito ou em diagonal, mais rápida ou mais lenta, as descidas em grupo são sempre sonoras.

Vista de longe, da baía de S. Martinho do Porto, temos uma noção mais concreta da sua extensão, de cerca de 200 metros e da envolvência com a foz do rio Tornada em que a duna se transforma em escarpas até ao oceano, até ao fecho da concha de S. Martinho do Porto.

Parte da duna é constituída por granito e a sua dimensão terá sido alcançada há cerca de 100 mil anos com os ventos a transportarem areias das lagoas que existiam entre Óbidos e a Nazaré.

Agora é um espaço agradável. A baía de S. Martinho do Porto funciona como um refúgio dos ventos e da ondulação.

Dunas cercam a baía, com vegetação e aves e podemos percorrer toda a área pelas passadeiras que, tal como o Tornada, termina na praia fluvial junto à duna de Salir.

Faz-se a transição da água doce para salgada mas junto às escarpas, do lado da duna, há uma nascente de água doce e sulfurosa que dizem ter faculdades medicinais. Pode-se aceder quando a maré está vazia.
Ao lado estão umas ruínas, também junto à água. São de uma antiga alfândega e foram também estaleiros e oficinas de reparação naval. No tempo de D. Afonso V terão sido aqui construídas caravelas com madeiras do Pinhal de Leiria e que terão feito parte da epopeia dos descobrimentos.

A zona envolvente à duna da Salir está bem cuidada. A água do rio parece limpa, há estruturas de apoio, estacionamento e restauração. O miradouro não fica longe.
Nesta zona há ainda grutas e pegadas de dinossauros.
